Commander Gene Hawks, a native of Chesapeake, VA, retired from the U.S. Navy 1 September 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from Radford University and was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in June 1989. He received a master’s degree from the Naval War College and is a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College.

His sea tours include Assistant Stock Control Officer aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; Supply Officer, USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG 49), and Principal Assistant for Logistics and Assistant Supply Officer, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Shore tours include assignments as Supply Officer, Command and Control Warfare Group, Atlantic; Weapons Systems Officer and Director, CASREP Support and Customer Service Division, Naval Inventory Control Point, Mechanicsburg, PA; Budget Officer and Logistics Readiness Officer, Commander, Naval Air force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet; establishing Supply Officer and Comptroller, Riverine Group ONE; Force Supply Officer, FIRST Naval Construction Division; Logistics Officer, Naval Special Warfare Group FOUR and Force Logistics Officer and Comptroller, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group TWO.

Commander Hawks’ personal awards include four Navy Meritorious Service Medals, six Navy Commendation Medals, two Navy Achievement Medals, Navy Expert Rifle Medal, Navy Expert Pistol Medal and numerous service medals and unit citations. He is qualified as a Navy Expeditionary Supply Corps Officer, Naval Aviation Supply Officer, Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer, Expeditionary Warfare Planner, DAWIA Acquisition Logistics Level III Certified in Life Cycle Logistics and a Defense Acquisition Corps member.

Upon retirement he served as Manager, Procurement Compliance, Procedures and Socioeconomic Management for Savannah River Remediation LLC, at Department of Energy Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC and as the Supply Chain Manager at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC. He is a founding partner and Business Manager at Anthony’s Aluminum Boats LLC, a custom aluminum boat builder. He is currently the managing partner of Hawks and Fellers LLC, providing consulting services to medical manufacturers and suppliers, and assisting with government contracting opportunities.
